Ukraine’s Sievierodonetsk receives fierce street fighting

According to Volodymyr Zelensky, our troops remained busy in street fighting with Russian troops in the Sievierodnetsk. The main concern of this battle is to control the eastern Donbas region.

Zelensky said on Monday night that, fights in the street of Sievierodnetsk will remain to continue as our heroes will not give up any position.

He also added that the Donbas region is strong where Sievierodnetsk is located.

Oleksandr Stryuk, head of Sievierodnetsk’s administration said, telling about which side had the upper hand was difficult.

The city of Sievierodnetsk based in the Luhansk and Donetsk provinces has become the main target of Russian offense.

The Defense Ministry of Ukraine told, that to get control of the remaining Ukrainian-held city in Luhansk, Russia was sending troops and equipment as well.

Serhiy Gaidai-Luhansk Governor told on Monday the situation got worsen when Ukrainian defenders pushed back the Russian troops when they were closed to victory.

Ukrainian military updated due to Russian shelling in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions, two civilians were killed on Monday and more than 20 communities were fired on by the Russian troops.  

This invasion started on Feb, 24 but Russia calls it a “special military operation”. On the other hand, Ukraine and its allies call these unjustified actions from Russia.

Russia is now heading its offensive shelling towards Sloviansk, Lyman, and Svyatohirsk with the aim of smashing Ukrainian defensive positions.

According to Kyrylenko, we are trying to evacuate residents from various towns including Sloviansk which has around 24,000 residents.

Britain and United States say they would arrange multiple rocket systems for Ukraine that can strike up to 80km away. It will provide long-range target firepower to Ukraine which is required to reach Russian artillery batteries.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Sunday that Russia will strike new targets if Ukraine receives longer-range missiles from the West. As a result, Russian missiles hit Kyiv on the same day.

There have been various sanctions imposed on Russia by the Western countries over its invasion of Ukraine.
