Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said on Tuesday that Pakistan’s IT sector has marked strong growth in recent times opening opportunities for platforms such as Meta to extend their operations to Pakistan.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, at his meeting with the President of Global Affairs of Meta-Nick Clegg thanked the company for a donation of Rs.125 million for humanitarian aid in Pakistan following the deadly floods.

He said: “These are test times for Pakistan and this donation would be useful for our flood rescue operations”

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, who is currently with the Prime Minister during his visit to the United States, said that after the floods, the task of recovery, rehabilitation, and reconstruction could be accomplished without the support of the private sector.

Speaking of opportunities available in Pakistan because of the young population who understand technology 64%under the age of 30 years, high Tele density, massive digitalization of the economy, and regime of business-friendly regulations, the Foreign Minister urge Meta to establish its office in Pakistan.

Nick Clegg expressed solidarity and sympathy with Pakistan on the destruction caused by floods that have never happened before.

He said that the Pakistani team from Meta included entirely Pakistani professionals.

He informed the Minister of Foreign Affairs on Meta Connectivity and Capacity Strengthening Programs in Pakistan. He reaffirmed Meta’s interest in continuous commitment to Pakistan to explore the methods of strengthening collaboration in the digital space.
