K-Electric requests for huge reduction in bills

K-Electric has submitted an application to the National Electricity Regulatory Agency (NEPRA) to reduce electricity rates by PKR 4.622 per unit for September 2022, announced on Tuesday.

As per details, K-Electric has proposed a reduction of PKR 4.622 per unit while adjusting fuel costs for September. This will bring PKR 7,740 million in aid to the citizens of Karachi.

NEPRA will make the final decision on October 25, 2022.

Previously, on October 14, 2022, NEPRA agreed to reduce the fuel tariff adjustment of PKR 4.89/kWh for KE consumers for August 2022.

Subsequent consumer decisions and rebates apply for the billing month of October 2022. Fuel Cost Adjustment (FCA) is an approved adjustment imposed on consumer electricity bills by KE and State-owned Discos under the rules and regulations defined by NEPRA and Government of Pakistan.
