Iranian President Raisi rejected CNN’s interview after the Anchor refused to Wear a Scarf

Iranian President Ahmed Raisi has canceled a long-planned interview with CNN veteran journalist, Christiane Amanpour at the United Nations General Assembly, after refusing his request to cover her head with a scarf during the interview.

Cancellation of scheduled interview occurs when Iran is seeing a national protest over the death of a 22 -year -old woman Mahsa Amini, who was reportedly died of a ‘heart attack’. A few hours after the police morality arrested her because of the violation of the country’s compulsory rule for women to cover their heads in public.

Raisi, a hardliner who was in New York to attend the session of the United Nations General Assembly, had an interview planned with Amanpour, Chief International anchor of CNN.

The Iranian president canceled the interview after she refused the last-minute request to wear the hijab, said CNN.

Amanpour in a series of tweets said that Raisi’s aide clarified that the interview would not occur if she did not wear the hijab because it was the months of Muharram and Safar and therefore “a matter of respect”.
