Entry closed for Chinese Ship at Hambantota port!

A few days after India expressed security concerns, the authorities at the port have now said that the high-tech Chinese research vessel that was to dock at the Humbantota port will not reach according to schedule.

According to reports, the Harbour master for the Hambantota port has said that no vessel can enter the port without it’s permission. This comes up after Sri Lanka foreign ministry last week, asked Beijing to defer the arrival of Chinese ballistic missile and satellite tracking ship five Yuan Wang 5 which was scheduled to dock at the Hambantota from August 11 till 17th.

The high-tech Chinese Research Vessel left China on July 14 until now it has not entered a single port along its route. The vessel has been sailing for almost 28 days with zero replenishment. In response to the Sri Lankan government move against docking the Chinese ship at the port, Chinese social media platform tiktok has suspended a promotional campaign, organized by the Sri Lankan embassy. The campaign had to be launched on Friday. However, the Sri Lankan authorities have been told that it cannot be implemented now. Not only this, various social media sites in China are swarmed with negative comments on Sri Lanka. According to reports, some Chinese supermarkets have also delayed the purchase of Sri Lankan goods!
